Today was a long systems day: part integration, part troubleshooting, and part returning to the physical question at the centre of POP—how do we let a crystal become a real, measurable participant in the chain?
We spent time on R1 compatibility and the surrounding computer-to-agent path, with the practical goal of making more of the POPChain accessible through the same small device. That work is still settling, but the direction is clearer: the device should be a useful doorway into the wider system, not an isolated demo.
On the hardware side, we put a temporary pin in the actual crystal path. That is not a retreat; it is a deliberate pause while the next measurement layer is made more reliable. We looked closely at the ADC path and the resonance generator module, separating the questions of driving, sensing, conditioning, and recording. The important result was a plan for the next pass: establish a clean baseline, measure the response across the expected resonance range, and only then commit to the more permanent crystal interface.
The hardware does not need to be rushed into a final shape. A good instrument starts by making the uncertain parts observable. The ADC gives us a way to listen. The resonance generator gives us a controlled way to ask a question. Together they should let the crystal’s behaviour become data we can understand, compare, and eventually connect back into POPChain identity.
We also put a funding plan in place. The next step is to turn the work already done into a concise application package: the problem and opportunity, the technical approach, the current prototype evidence, a small set of measurable milestones, a realistic budget, and a clear account of what the funding would unlock. We will identify suitable programs, prepare the supporting material, and begin applying soon, with the immediate focus on the sensing path, prototype refinement, and the POPChain integration that makes the physical work useful beyond the bench.
For now, the crystal path has a temporary pin in it, the ADC and resonance generator have a clearer job, and the project has a practical route toward its next stage. Sometimes progress is not another permanent connection. Sometimes it is knowing exactly where to pause so the next connection can be trusted.
